Process Tank Fabrication Experience

JNE Welding has the experience to meet your process tank fabrication needs. We’ve built literally hundreds of different process tanks so far. We’ve built crystallizer tanks as weighing over 120 tons, as long as 80 feet, and up to 33 feet in diameter. We’ve worked with everything from stainless steel to hastelloy. We’ve fabricated process tanks for nearly every stage of potash processing. Our experience includes but is not limited to fabricating:

  • Crystallizers
  • Thickeners
  • Sump Tank
  • Cyclopacs
  • Flotation Cells
  • Water Tanks
  • Thickener Overflow Tanks
  • Froth Distributors
  • Product Tanks
  • Brine Tanks
  • Sodium Storage Tanks
  • Clarifier Thickener Tanks
  • Wash Tanks
  • Elutriation Legs
  • PH Adjustment Tanks
  • Pulp Tanks
  • Rotary Feed Tanks
  • Dedust Oil Holding Tank
  • Potash Surge Bins

Field Erected Thickener Tanks Fabrication

JNE’s 77,000 square feet of fabrication shop space has allowed it to fabricate Thickener Tanks in excess of 100’ in diameter. These thickener tanks’ conical floors were scalloped in design to reduce material weight. We met tight tolerances for fabrication of each parts which allowed for smooth on-site assembly. As with this project, we have experience fabricating structural components such as the ones below.

About Potash Crystallization

Potash crystallization involves taking dissolved potash out of a brine solution. Crystallization process is aided by brines with saturated levels of potash. The crystallization tank generally cools the brine to allow for the potassium chloride to form high purity crystals. Crystallization is used for applications requiring industrial grade potash or specialty fertilizer grade (white muriate) potash. It is also used as a side process for recovery of fine potash byproducts of the crushing and scrubbing.

Potash Evaporation Fabrication Experience

JNE Welding works with OEM for the mining industry to fabricate mining and processing equipment for the potash industry. JNE Welding is experienced in producing evaporator tanks for the potash mining industry. Saskatchewan is home to some of the largest deposits of potash which has given JNE Welding the opportunity to fabricate large evaporators.

About Potash Evaporation

Potash evaporator tanks are used to increase the concentration of potassium chloride in the brine to saturation. This process is generally used to remove other chemicals such as sodium chloride and increase the concentration of the desire material. Successive evaporators are often employed to remove water. Generally, evaporators are used prior to crystallization tanks. Evaporators are common in solution mining operations to remove excess water used in the extraction process.

Welding Materials

JNE has experience welding:

  • Carbon steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Duplex stainless
  • Super duplex
  • Chromium carbide
  • Inconel
  • Monel
